A 1,200-kilometer journey through Syria

This Wednesday (11) in your ANBA Bulletin: check out a series of special reports on Syria. ANBA was in the Arab country in late August and early September, and visited several cities, historical and religious sites – many of which were damaged during the war that erupted in 2011. ANBA was invited by the Ministry of Tourism to join a group of professionals from press outlets on a journey spanning over 1,200 km across Syria. The trip included Damascus, the heartland, and the coast in Northwest Syria. The first report covers Damascus (pictured), and the second one is about Maaloula and Saidnaya, which have been Christian pilgrimage sites for centuries. The series will continue throughout this week.

And Brazil's Agriculture minister Tereza Cristina is taking a tour of four Arab countries starting this Wednesday. She's having meetings in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE alongside a delegation of businesspersons and Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce executives. “We know well that a face-to-face relationship is very important for Arabs. We encouraged the minister’s tour because we know this presence will make a difference in doing new business and removing obstacles that may be on the way,” said Chamber Rubens Hannun, who will be along for the trip.

And Egyptian companies are featured at the Gotex Show, a textile industry expo taking place through Thursday (12) in São Paulo. Egypt's Economic and Commercial Office in São Paulo has a stand showcasing textiles and clothing from eight enterprises. “This participation comes at a very important stage in Egypt-Brazil trade relations, since we entered the third year of the Egypt-Mercosur free trade agreement a few days ago,” said consul and Office chief Mohamed Elkhatib.
