Brasília – The Producer Price Index (IPP, acronym in Portuguese), which calculates the prices of industrial goods at the factory gates, registered a 0.43% inflation in February. It is higher than in January, when there was a 0.75% deflation. In February last year, IPP was 0.38%.
This data was released this Tuesday (16) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, acronym in Portuguese). The IPP accumulates a 0.33% deflation this year, another reflex of the price drop in January, and an 8.36% inflation over 12 months.
In February, out of the 24 industrial activities surveyed, 11 presented an inflation in its products, notably petroleum refining and alcohol products (4.22%) and extractive industries (7.97%). On the other hand, 13 industrial activities showed deflation, notably other chemichal products (-1,85%) and food (-0.53%).
