São Luís – The Brazilian federal government is launching a program to welcome repatriates in vulnerable situations. An initiative of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC, in the Portuguese acronym), “Aqui é Brasil” (This is Brazil) will include psychosocial and healthcare services.
The program launch ceremony will take place on Wednesday (6) in Brasília. Human Rights minister Macaé Evaristo said on social media that the initiative is designed to bring “dignity and citizenship” to repatriated Brazilians, “with job opportunities, adequate housing, healthcare, and other guarantees that only a taxpayer ID can ensure.”
Since February, Brazil’s federal government has brought in more than 1,2000 repatriates, focusing on the safe return of vulnerable citizens abroad, especially in the United States.
