São Paulo – The Arab countries are the main destinations for foreign sales of Formacomp, a maker of plywood, laminates and anti slip tiles. The products, mainly plastified plywood, are shipped to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Morocco.
"The Arab market is quickly winning a larger share of our exports and is currently considered strategic for the strengthening of our brand abroad," explained Beatriz Filipak Vanin, who is responsible for the export department at Formacomp.
The company, established in March 2001 in União da Vitória, in the interior of the state of Paraná, turns 80% of production to the foreign market. The first export took place in April 2001, to Belgium. According to Vanin, as time went by, Formacomp diversified its participation supplying new clients.
Apart from the Arab market, the company also exports to the United States, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Cuba, Martinique, Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Cape Verde, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, France and Turkey.
According to Vanin, Formacomp has as its main export product plastified plywood for civil construction. "Around 80% of our production is turned to export aimed at increasing participation on the global market," he pointed out.
To find new clients, the factory usually participates in fairs like the International Building Industry Fair (Feicon), promoted in São Paulo. Formacomp generates 270 direct jobs.
To supply raw material needs more efficiently, the factory has an aligned company, Lamminas, in the city of Várzea da Palma, Minas Gerais. And, to further increase the installed production capacity, the factory is investing in the construction of a branch in the city of Santa Cecília, in Santa Catarina.
In the domestic market, Formacomp has exclusive representatives in Goiás, Amazonas, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia.
