São Paulo – The Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas received on Wednesday (16) the credentials of the head of Brazil’s representation office in Ramallah, ambassador Alessandro Candeas. The diplomat took office late last year. Pictured above, Candeas (L) and Abbas (R).
The credentials are a formal letter from one head of state to another, asking them to give credence to whatever the ambassador may say on their country’s behalf. Candeas had already presented an unsealed copy of his credentials to the minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riad Malki, in March and has carried out many activities since then.
The ceremony of the presentation of Candeas’ credentials to Abbas featured minister Malki, the president’s diplomatic advisor Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Presidential Guard commander major-general Munir Al-Zoubi, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
