São Paulo – Construction of an ultrahigh speed transportation system in Abu Dhabi is set to begin in the third quarter of 2019, Gulf Business reported quoting the United States’ Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT), which is handling the project. The company said this will be the first commercial hyperloop in the world.
A hyperloop is a system involving pressurized tubes whereby people and cargo are carried in pods at speeds as high as 1,100 km per hour. HyperloopTT introduced the first-ever passenger pod early this month in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain. The company said the pod will be passenger-ready next year.
Hyperloop TT reached a deal with Abu Dhabi real estate developer Aldar to roll out the project, on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai border (pictured at the top of this story is a rendering of the project). “We are bringing the future of rapid transportation technology to all those living in the UAE,” HyperloopTT chairman Bibop Gresta said.
