Algiers – Imports of completely knocked-down (CKD) automobile kits for assembly in Algeria amounted to USD 1.83 billion from January to August this year, up 95.75% from a year ago, Algérie Presse Service (APS) quoted the Algerian customs statistics center as reporting this Tuesday (2).
Imports of CKD kits and vehicles for transportation of people and goods reached USD 386.2 million through August this year, up 19.33% from a year ago.
Total imports of CKD kits and vehicles intended for carrying passengers and cargo came out to USD 2.22 billion, up 76%.
Imports of auto parts and accessories reached USD 239.2 million, down 12% from a year ago.
Brazil accounted for a negligible portion of said trade, with auto parts and accessories exports amounting to USD 179,000 through August, as per numbers from the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services.
