São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce should participate in one of the main tourism fairs in the world, Fitur, to begin on Wednesday (18) in Madrid, Spain. “We are going to contact organisations for tourism promotion in the main countries participating, with the intention of, later, promoting them in Brazil,” said the CEO at the organisation, Michel Alaby.
The work should be promoted by Rafael Abdulmassih, an advisor to the CEO, who travelled to the Spanish capital taking the Chamber’s promotional material. According to Alaby, he should also speak about Brazil to Arab institutions.
The idea is to exchange information to develop actions for incentive to bilateral tourism. At the Chamber, this area is under the responsibility of director Sami Roumieh.
The companies exhibiting at the fair include Algeria, Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan and Tunisia. Apart from the promotion offices, some of these sites will be represented by private companies in the area of tourism.
One of the themes of the fair this year, proposed by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), according to the Fitur site, is the Silk Road, which connects East to West and was used in antiquity, crossing several countries in the Middle East.
Brazil should also participate in the event, through the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), the Brazilian Association of Tourism Operators (Braztoa) and the Brazilian Travel Agency Association (Abav), among other companies and organisations. The minister of Tourism, Gastão Vieira, should participate in the opening of the fair.
Fitur ends on the 22nd, with the first three days being exclusively for professionals in the sector, and the last three for the public in general. According to the organisation, 10,434 exhibitors from 166 countries should participate. Almost 210,000 visitors are expected.
