São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce should participate in the International Agricultural Technology in Action Trade Fair (Agrishow), to take place from April 29th to May 3rd, in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo. The fair is the main fair in the agribusiness area in the country and normally receives Arab importers. Expectations, according to the organisation, are for the Agrishow to receive 2,500 foreign visitors from over 20 countries, mainly those present in last year’s edition. Jordan and Sudan are two.
“Agrishow is the largest agribusiness sector fair in Brazil and the sector is one of the most important in relations between Brazil and the Arab world. As it is a bridge for these relations, it is essential for the Chamber to be present,” said the commercial manager at the organisation, Janaina Calonga. According to the executive, at the fair, the Chamber operates in aiding Arab importers present and also Brazilian companies interested in exporting to the Arab market. Two of the organisation’s professionals should participate in the event.
Last year, apart from importers from Jordan and Sudan, which are Arab countries, Agrishow also received visitors from France, Argentina, Romania, Tanzania, Poland, the Ukraine, Nicaragua, Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, Turkey, China (Macau), the United States, Italy, India, New Zealand and Russia. In total, expectations of the organizers are to receive a visiting public of 152,000 people and to generate business of R$ 2.5 billion. The promotion of business roundtables in the area of machinery are forecasted with buyers from Botswana, Kazakhstan, Guatemala, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Panama, Romania, Russia, the Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
In total, 790 exhibitors should show technology turned to agribusiness. Among those with booths at the fair are makers of machinery and agricultural equipment, inputs, tools, class associations, research centres and universities, as well as financial institutions. The total area of the fair is 440,000 square meters.
The fair will include practical demonstrations of agricultural technology and equipment in which the performance of the machinery being exhibited may be viewed in fields with maize, sugarcane, sorghum, soy and others. The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) will have a 16-hectare area on which to show possible arrangements in the System for Integration of Crops, Livestock Farming and Forestry, a system for development of these three areas on the same property, which will benefit from environmental benefits and will generate greater revenues for the farmer.
One of the focuses of Agrishow in this year’s edition is sustainability. The exhibition is promoted by the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (Abag), the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq), the Brazilian National Fertilizer Association (Anda) and the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB).
