São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) turns 69 this Friday, July 2, 2021, in a transformation process. To mark the date, the institution released a video with its president, Osmar Chohfi (pictured above), about the modernization that the ABCC is undergoing. Chohfi retired from his diplomatic career, during which he became secretary-general of Brazilian Foreign Affairs, and took over the organization in April this year.
Chohfi recalls that the ABCC was created by idealistic and bold Brazilians of Arab descent who wanted to establish commercial partnerships between Brazil and the nations from which their families originated. “I, personally, am very proud, and so are all our directors and employees, to be part of this history and the transformation that our home has been going through,” stated the president of the ABCC.
Over the years, the institution fulfilled the role of bringing Brazilians and Arabs closer together. It is currently investing in several innovative projects to carry on its mission. Among these initiatives is the creation of the Arab House, an institutional development center for relations between Arabs and Brazilians, the launch of the ABCC Lab, a hub that will allow the connection of Arab and Brazilian innovation players, and the establishment of a women’s committee, WAHI – Women who Inspire, to bring Arab and Brazilian businesswomen closer together.
