São Paulo – Distributors from the UAE and Saudi Arabia have been invited to sit down for B2B meetings at Hospitalar, the healthcare industry show taking place this May in São Paulo. The two Arab buyers – plus a group of nine importers – will be brought to Brazil by the Brazilian Health Devices project of the Brazilian Medical and the Brazilian Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Equipment Manufacturers Association (Abimo) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The goal is to foster exports by the Brazilian industry.
Abimo commercial promotion coordinator Larissa Gomes explains that Saudi Arabia and the UAE are in the Brazilian Health Devices’ 2017-2019 target group. New target markets are picked every two years as the Apex-Brasil/Abimo agreement gets renewed.
Brazilian industry players usually go to trade shows in the Arab countries – they have been to Arab Health, Medlab and AEEDC Dubai this year –, but this time around it was decided that importers would be brought to Brazil as well. “So they can witness everything we have here,” Larissa told ANBA. Over the past four years, Brazilian Health Devices focused on getting Latin American importers to attend exhibitions in Brazil. Now, it’ll call out to players from around the world, like it used to do up until 2014,” said Larissa.
Regarding the invitation for Arab importers to attend Hospitalar, the coordinator rexplains that hard work is being done in the Middle East, including going to trade shows, and this is boosting the reputation of Brazilian companies. “Our image is getting stronger and stronger, and they are very welcoming of Brazilian product,” says Larissa. The Apex-Brasil office in Dubai is helping do this work, she said.
Brazilian Health Devices companies exported a combined USD 6.8 million worth of product to Arab countries last year. The best-selling items are orthopedic items and devices, laboratory items, breast prostheses, respiratory products, hospital instruments and devices, infant incubators, and oxygen delivery devices.
The B2B sessions at the Hospitalar expo will feature Brazilian Health Devices-affiliated companies. Registrations have ended. The show will run from May 21 to 24, and business meetings will take place in the morning on the first three days. Importers from Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Panama and Costa Rica have also been invited. The Arab importers slated to attend distribute product locally and across the region. Last year’s Hospitalar B2B meetings led to USD 4 million in immediate and future deals, and 335 meetings took place.
