São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce has expanded its partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Relations with the objective of increasing the visibility of Brazilian products in the Arab world. “The partnership goes beyond participation in fairs. We have a work program including seminars, business meetings and meetings with authorities in several countries,” stated the secretary general at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Michel Alaby.
The partnership includes the organisation’s participation in sartorial and multisectorial fairs. The first event, promoted in early February, was Khartoum International Fair, in Sudan. The Brazilian stand included the presence of three companies: Grendene, in the shoe sector, JBS Friboi group, the largest beef conglomerate in the world, and furniture factory Fiasini.
In the sidelines of exhibitions, Alaby and Brazilian diplomats had meetings with representatives of the Investment Ministry of Sudan, the Sudanese Businessmen Association, the deputy director for Relations with the Americas at the Foreign Ministry of Sudan, Tariq Hassan Abusalih, among others.
According to Alaby, the support of the ministry is official, promotional and financial. For the next event, Djazagro fair, in the agribusiness sector, in Algeria, the idea is to organise a seminar in Algiers about business and investment opportunities in the agro industrial sector in the African country. Also scheduled are meetings at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.
Algeria is the main importer of foods in Africa. Last year, the fair included the participation of over 350 exhibitors in the food, beverage, equipment and packaging sectors. Registration for participation may be done through the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce site (www.ccab.org.br).
Still in April, comes Tripoli International Fair, in Libya. “There, participation is more institutional,” said Alaby. The event, which is multisectorial and should take place from the 2nd to the 12th, should receive over 2,000 exhibitors from 30 countries.
Among the novelties for this year, apart from Djazagro, which will include the presence of the Arab Brazilian Chamber for the first time, participation should also take place at Healthcare, in Syria, in medical and hospital products, and at Mactech, in Egypt, of agricultural machinery and equipment. In both events, the Itamaraty and the Arab Brazilian Chamber want to organise a seminar about business opportunities in these sectors for Arab businessmen.
Healthcare, to take place from April 15th to 18th, in Damascus, brings together some 125 producers of medical, hospital and dentistry equipment and personal hygiene products. The idea is to schedule visits to a hospital and a dentistry clinic that is a reference in the capital, as well as meetings with authorities and businessmen in Health.
To promote the fair in Brazil and call businessmen to participate, the Arab Brazilian Chamber should organise, on Monday (22), a seminar at the organisation’s offices, in São Paulo, about the medical-hospital sector’s business opportunities in the Arab countries.
The fair in Egypt, Mactech, from November 25th to 28th, in Cairo, should also count on a seminar about the agricultural machinery and equipment sector geared at Arab businessmen, as well as business meetings with local authorities.
Last of all, the Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Itamaraty participate in DBX Kurdistan, in Iraque. This should be the third time that the Chamber participates in the event, to take place from November 11th to 14th. The fair is multisectorial and offers opportunities for hospital and safety equipment, machinery for construction, equipment for extraction and production of oil as well as food in general.
