São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is working to establish trade promotion and partnership in events with organizations from the United Arab Emirates. Tamer Mansour, manager of Government Relations of the organization, met with four organizations from the Gulf country to discuss projects to be executed jointly with them.
On Thursday (10), Mansour attended a meeting with representatives from Dubai Exports, the exports promotion agency of the emirate. “We went into the meeting to promote Apas [the São Paulo Supermarkets Association’s fair]. They are really interested in taking part in Apas next year. They want a large area to take 12 companies,” said Mansour. According to him, the agency is planning to bring exporters of dates, chocolates and other products made of camel milk, and Arab products such as hummus and spices.
“They also want to organize an event in partnership with the Arab Chamber during Gulfood to attract more protein exporters [beef and poultry] to sell here so they can re-export. Currently, this is already being done, but they want to increase frequency and quantities,” explained the executive. According to Mansour, Dubai Exports will work on identifying the most suited companies in the emirate for this partnership with Brazilian companies.
On the same day, Mansour also attended meetings at the free zones of Jebel Ali (Jafza) and Dubai South. He said that both offered permanent spaces for the exhibition of products from Brazilian companies.
“There’s a strong interest from them [the free zones] in bringing in Brazilian companies,” he said. According to Mansour, companies from other South American countries are in Jafza already. “Argentina alone has more than 15 companies there.” He believes that the sectors within the Brazilian industry that would perform great in the emirate would be foodstuffs and cosmetics.
This Friday (11), Mansour met with executives from free zone Ras Al-Khaimah. “They want to sign a partnership so that during the UAE events that the Arab Chamber takes part in, such as the Big 5 and Gulfood fairs, for instance, they can host a breakfast with Brazilian companies and take them on a tour of their facilities,” he added.
