São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is accepting registrations from Brazilian companies to join its stand at Gulfood, the food industry expo taking place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates from February 26 to March 2.
“It is the biggest fair in the Middle East and one of the biggest in the world,” says Arab Chamber CEO Michel Alaby. “Arab countries are increasing their food imports in a significant way. Last year saw them import some USD 90 billion worth of food products, and USD 50 billion of those were in the Gulf alone,” he says.
Countries in the Middle East and North Africa imported USD 8.6 billion worth of food items from Brazil last year. Meats, sugar and cereals were the bestsellers, and the top buyers were Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Algeria.
“We will provide full support to the companies, via our executives, and we will invite entrepreneurs from the Gulf and North Africa to visit our stand,” says Alaby. The Arab Chamber stand will span 33 sqm and is accepting registrations from prospective food and beverage industry exhibitors.
Companies looking to join can work out the details with the Chamber up until January 15. Arab Chamber member companies get a discount.
Besides the Arab Chamber stand, Gulfood regularly features dozens of Brazilian companies at their own stands or in areas organized by industry-specific organizations. This year, for instance, 86 companies went to the expo with support from the Brazilian Exports and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
