São Paulo – Brazilian food and beverage companies will get the opportunity to enter Qatar’s market in December. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will organize, on December 5 and 6, a business mission to the country, including meetings with buyers. Registrations can be made starting this Tuesday (04).
In addition to B2B meetings with importers, also in the schedule are meetings set up according to the profile and demand of each Brazilian company of the delegation. The group will also take technical visits to places such as supermarkets to get to know the local food and beverage market.
One of the factors that pushed for the organization of the mission was the Arab Chamber identifying a new demand in Qatar due to the construction of new restaurants, resorts and hotels in the country’s preparation to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
According to the Arab Chamber’s president, Rubens Hannun, Qatar is an important trade partner for Brazil and the Arab Chamber, and an attractive one because of its market dynamics right now, with opportunities for Brazilian companies. “It’s part of the Arab Chamber’s policy to be more present in the Arab countries by taking member companies to those countries,” says Hannun.
Total imports by Qatar last year totaled USD 25.3 billion, according to data by the United Nations compiled by the Arab Chamber. Brazil’s exported USD 417.8 million worth of goods to Qatar in the period, or 1.6% of the total of Qatar’s imports. From this total, USD 141 million – around one third – were spent on food and beverages, the sector in which the mission will be focusing on.
According to the Arab Chamber’s analyst of International Business, Thiago Ramires Dias, the date for the mission was chosen to facilitate the participation of Brazilian exhibiting companies in the trade expo Sial Abu Dhabi. The food products trade fair will take place on December 10 to 12 in the United Arab Emirates, also a Gulf country, with the Brazilian participation being organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).
