São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) will present next Monday (3) an action plan to foster sport-related business between Brazil and the Arab countries. The actions will be announced by the sports arm of the institution, the Ryadah Committee, in a hybrid event from 9 am to 11 am (BRT), which will feature an in-person version for guests and press in the headquarters of the ABCC in São Paulo, Brazil, and be streamed online for the general audience. The online participation is open to the public and free of charge. The event will feature English-Portuguese translation.
The event will feature the committee’s chairman, martial arts champion Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, better known as Minotauro, who’s currently in charge of one of the world’s largest fighting gym chains, Team Nogueira, which has units in the United Arab Emirates. The meeting will also feature lawyer Pedro Trengrouse, who is the advisor of the activities of the committee, former football coaches Carlos Alberto Parreira and René Simões, sitting members recruited for their experience in the Arab world, and Fouad Darwish, CEO of the UAE martial arts company Palms Sports.
According to ABCC secretary-general & CEO Tamer Mansour, the actions presented are expected to help sports institutions, clubs and brands from both regions to implement joint projects in the form of partnerships, competitions, and business dealings. “We want to build a network action so as to identify synergies and opportunities that could be tapped by Brazilians and Arabs together,” the executive said on the occasion of the committee launch last year, during the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries.
Mansour pointed out that Arab countries have a number of reasons for projecting the region through sports by attracting global, including making it possible to develop the local economy with less dependence on oil. And it’s within this context that governments in the region have been interested in attracting major events like the Qatar World Cup, F1 races, and the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
