São Paulo – The second edition of international food and beverage industry show Anufood is slated for March 9 to 11, 2020 at the São Paulo Expo, in São Paulo. During the first-ever show last March, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s institutional stand featured product samplings and a buyers’ project that saw Arab importers brought to the event.
The same features will be available in 2020, plus slots for 15 Arab companies at the stand. Two Qatari companies, which deal in beef and poultry, have already registered. Registrations will be available through the end of January 2020.
“The goal is to keep up the Arab Chamber’s work to promote goods from Arab countries here in Brazil, while publicizing the culture even further in the process,” said commercial manager Daniella Leite.
Top-selling Arab food items in Brazil include sardines, olives, olive oil, baking powder, dates, and spices. Anufood 2020 is expected to feature 200 exhibitors and welcome about 10,000 fairgoers, including establishments, service providers, wholesalers and distributors.
Apart from Brazil, exhibitors from 16 countries have confirmed their presence, including China, Italy, Peru, Turkey, and the Arab countries Morocco, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Palestine.
The event is hosted by Koelnmesse, which also hosts one of the industry’s biggest shows – Anuga, in Cologne, Germany.
“We believe in the potential of Anufood. This was our first year and we saw great results. Since agrofoods are very relevant to the balance of trade, our goal is to keep working to increase trade flows,” said Leite.
Anufood is divided into ten sectors: Agrofoods, Meat, Chilled & Fresh Food, Dairy, Drinks & Hot Beverages, Fine Food, Bread & Bakery, Organic, Sweets & Snacks, and Food Service.
The expo will run from 10am to 7pm. On its first edition, Anufood got 7,000 visitors, featuring 100 exhibitors from 23 countries, and deals exceeding USD 15 million.
Schedule
Events will be held concurrently with the trade show, including the second Brazilian Bars and Restaurants Association Meeting, covering topics including the future of delivery services, marketing, architecture, and industry taxes.
Anufood will feature workshops for pizzerias, in partnership with Instituto ConPizza, and the pastry and bakery project Confeitaria & Panificação Show, from the Brazilian Industrial Apprenticeship System (Senai). National and international B2B sessions are also in the schedule.
Industry specialists and government officials will join an international congress on food security, regulation and food waste, with curation from Fundação Getulio Vargas’ FGV Projetos.
