São Paulo – Catering company Thaita specializes in preparing Arab food to serve at parties, dinners and cocktail parties. Established four years ago by Muna Lelia Lahud and Youcef George Lian, two brothers of Lebanese descent, the São Paulo-based company also offers courses to those interested in learning the typical dishes of Lebanese cuisine.
Muna explains that she and her brother cook recipes that they learned during childhood from her grandmother, in addition to dishes created by the businesswoman herself, based on the Arab country’s cuisine.
With two more employees in addition to the partners themselves, the catering company operates according to the demand for events. However, those willing to learn how to cook the Arab dishes may attend the courses offered by Thaita.
The basic course has nine classes. In each of them, the student learns to cook an entrée, a main course and a dessert. The classes are interactive and always involve student collaboration. "They participate and then we taste the cooked dish," says Muna, adding that the classes may be taught in her house or at the student’s. Thaita also offers special courses to suit the needs of each person interested.
Thaita’s menu includes dishes such as kibbeh, safiha, grape and cabbage leaf rolls, homus, stuffed eggplant and zucchini, as well as other traditional dishes of Lebanese cuisine.
