São Paulo – Retailers from Algeria, Oman and the United Arab Emirates are coming to São Paulo to participate in the sixth edition of the Brazilian High-End Furniture Manufacturers Association (Abimad) fair, to take place next week at Imigrantes Exhibition Centre. The Arab buyers are among the 36 importers from 21 countries who were invited by the Abimad and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
The three retailers from the Arab world have already imported from Brazil and were recommended by the exporters themselves. "They all came to the fair before. This shows that the market has good relations with Brazilian companies," stated the market development analyst at Abimad, Bruno Silveira. According to him, they are demanding buyers who require products with contemporary design.
On Wednesday (11), which is one day before the opening of the fair, the 36 buyers are going to participate in the Abimad International Business Meeting, to unite them with 45 Brazilian producers of high-end furniture. There should be 432 meetings in 12 business roundtables.
According to Silveira, despite the global crisis, he believes that the result of the roundtables should be positive. "From what I read in Abimad’s Hall magazine and others, the producers are not pessimistic (with regard to the crisis). I believe that the world is not going to stop, the companies are only going to move slower," stated the analyst. He said that some of the Arab importers invited should not come to the fair as they decided to slow down in this first half, but they said they should be in the next edition of the fair, in the second half. "The companies that come are coming to buy and those that have decided not to come still show good perspectives for the second half. This shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is very positive," he added.
Apart from the Arabs, the fair also receives buyers from South Africa, Angola, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, Israel, Italy, Mozambique, Namibia, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
