São Paulo – For some years now, the emirate of Dubai has attracted the attention of tourists around the world. And it is no different with Brazilians. The Arab emirate is the top destination for Brazilians in the Arab world. However, it is not the only one and may soon lose its position. Travel agency CVC has announced new travel packages from Brazil to the Arab world. Dubai is there, but also Jordan, Abu Dhabi, Egypt and Qatar, among other countries. Starting this year, it is possible to go to destinations as different as Japan and Dubai, China and Dubai, Israel and Jordan, in one single trip.
CVC’s product manager for Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Middle East CVC, Rodrigo Tobias, claims that combining such different packages was possible thanks to negotiations with Emirates Airline, which is in charge of the trips. "Dubai is the place everybody wants to go to. The negotiation with the airline has enabled visitors to get to know someplace else. Why not join the destinations then? Abu Dhabi is beginning to offer attractions and attract people. Doha, in Qatar, which will host the 2022 World Cup, is also attracting tourist attention," he says.
There will be trips to the Emirates on a weekly basis, starting in April. To Japan, however, there will be only three trips this year. "CVC did not offer trips to Brazil in the past, and now it has started. But the trips are still expensive," says Rodrigo. If the domestic market remains as strong as it was in the last few years, more and more people will tend to travel to international destinations. "We grew by 25% last year and are hoping to grow another 25% in 2011," claims Rodrigo.
Many of the people who leave Brazil cannot speak another language. But these new packages include Brazilian tourist guides at the airport. "We used to have Spanish-speaking guides everywhere, but now we have got Portuguese-speaking ones close to our customers all the time. It is a differential, because these guides know the details of the destination countries, they may help tourists at customs and solve problems all the way back to Brazil," claims the CVC executive. The trips may be paid in up to ten instalments.
