São Paulo – This week, two Arab importers will sit at the table with Brazilian pharma manufacturers in São Paulo. One of the prospective buyers is from the United Arab Emirates, and the other is from Saudi Arabia. They will be at the FCE Pharma expo, set to run from May 10th to 12th at the Transamérica Expo Center, as guests of the Brazilian Pharma Solutions program, which works to foster exports.
The project is managed by the Brazilian Pharmachemical and Pharmaceutical Inputs Industry Association (Abiquifi) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Some 70 pharma industry companies are involved, from niches including medication and medication inputs manufacturing, veterinary medication manufacturing, and biotech for healthcare.
Brazilian Pharma Solutions will have an area at FCE Pharma for the matchmaking event, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to the Emirati and Saudi importers, the buyers from Nigeria, Iran and Turkey will attend. On Thursday, the importers will make technical visits to Brazilian companies.
According to Brazilian Pharma Solutions’ Market Intelligence analyst Vanessa Costa, Saudi Arabia was chosen for the matchmaking due to its market size and imports volume. Saudi Arabia is one of the targets of the Brazilian Pharma Solutions project, which works by picking out priority markets.
The UAE is not a target, but the analyst notes that the country is an interesting gateway to the Arab world, since Dubai distributes goods to markets across the region. “Dubai is well developed and strategically located for distribution,” Costa told ANBA over the phone. Saudi Arabia and the UAE imported a combined USD 3 million worth of pharma products from Brazil last year.
The expo
PCE Pharma is an industry show that runs the pharma industry gamut, from producers of inputs to packaging, machinery, services providers, quality control, lab equipment, automation equipment, graphic material etc. The industry grossed BRL 132 billion in revenues in 2015, according to estimates from the Brazilian Tax Planning Institute (IBPT) released by the expo’s organizers.
The show welcomes approximately 13,000 visitors and features new products by 500 Brazilian and non-Brazilian brands. It is organized by NürnbergMesse Brasil and also features seminars and lectures covering industry topics. For the first time, the expo will also feature the International Pharmaceutical Technology Conference, organized in partnership with International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (APV).
