Brazilian exports of ground and milled coffee to Saudi Arabia grew 316% in volume and 291.8% in revenues in the first quarter this year, compared with the same period in 2007. The Arab country was the 12th largest buyer of coffee sold under Brazilian brands in foreign countries.

The Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency launched a programme to encourage foreign sales by small- and medium-sized industries through foreign trade companies. The United Arab Emirates are one of five strategic markets. The actions should follow the model of the business mission to North Africa, promoted in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber in 2007.
