The second Summit of Arab-South American Countries should take place in Doha, Qatar, in 2009. The theme was discussed this week by the council of Foreign Ministers at the League, in Cairo.

Egyptian Foreign Relations Minister states that there are many immigrants who went to South America and that it is necessary to re-establish a connection with them. This attitude, according to him, is the first step to strengthen trade and economic relations. It even comes before the political level.
Brazilian Foreign Relations minister Celso Amorim returned from Cairo on Monday (10), after participating in a League of Arab Nations meeting. During talks with Foreign Affairs ministers from the region, Amorim defined a series of preparatory activities for the Summit between Arab and South American heads of state, to take place in the first half of December, in Brazil.
The secretary-general of the Arab League believes that Brazil is capable of receiving investment from those countries due to the great historic friendship in politics and because the country is "a successful example of a mixture of cultures and races"
