For the first time small sized companies will be able to participate in a bidding of the National Petroleum Agency to operate oil fields. The process involves 17 marginal areas in the states of Bahia and Sergipe, in the Northeast of Brazil, which have already been exploited by Petrobras. Each well may produce up to 100 barrels per day. Global trade between Brazil and the Arab world reached almost US$ 1.5 billion during the month, result of exports of US$ 615.7 million, 55% more than in the same month in 2004, and imports of US$ 881 million, an increase in 139% over August last year. For the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Antonio Sarkis Jr., it is already possible to foresee an increase in at least 25% in exports during the year.
