São Paulo – Agrostahl, a producer of auto parts that sells under the brand Stahl, has been exporting to the Middle East since 1999. Alert to the export growth potential, the factory, located in the city of Mairinque, in the interior of the southeastern state of São Paulo, is, this year, focusing on the potential of Arab countries in North Africa.
"We are in contact with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) and are awaiting trade missions to the region," stated Ivan Fernandes, Agrostahl export manager. "In the Middle Eastern Arab countries, we are already well represented. Our intention is now to reach the North African markets," he guarantees.
According to Fernandes, participation in trade missions and international fairs such as the one in Frankfurt, Germany, have guaranteed the first export contracts. "The fair made it possible, especially, to come close to the United Arab Emirates, which is a great distribution centre in the Middle East, and also with Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait," explains the manager.
According to him, the products are basically shipped to a distributor established in the Emirates, from there being shipped to other destinations. Fernandes points out that the company is very satisfied with sales to the region, which have been rising by 100% a year.
Global export revenue corresponds to 10% of industry revenue. The Arab countries already represent 4% of export revenue.
