São Paulo – Between March 06 and 07, the 11th Conference of Arab Businessmen and Investors is scheduled to take place in Manama, capital of Bahrain. The main focus of the conference will be the promotion of private investment and it will be organized by the League of Arab States, the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries and the Inter-Arab Investment Guarantee Corporation, with the support of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
"The topic was chosen as it is expected that the private sector participate in development and investment in the Arab countries, in the light of privatisation and of the policies of openness to globalisation," according to a statement by the secretary general of the General Union of Chambers, Elias Ghantous.
At the congress, topics to be discussed will include the mechanisms necessary for promotion of private investment and the panels will include obstacles to investment in the Arab countries, investment opportunities and the part played by organizations and agencies in providing incentives to investment.
This conference has been organized every two years since 1982. Apart from the conference there will also be a fair for the exhibition of investment projects. Those interested may rent spaces to exhibit their business opportunities.
To participate in the congress it is necessary to register at the General Union of Chambers, which may be done by Internet. A fee of US$ 600 is charged per participant. Further information:
