São Paulo – Brazilian beef exports to the Arab countries totaled USD 189.75 million in Q1, up 37.6% over the same period of last year. In volume, the country exported 48,510 tons to the Arabs, an increase of 59% in the same comparison, according to data from the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) compiled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
Egypt was the highlight, with purchases worth USD 138.58 million, a surge of 193% over 2017’s Q1. The second major destination was Saudi Arabia, with USD 32.61 million. However, revenues generated by exports to the country dropped 43.7% in comparison to last year’s Q1.
In third place comes the United Arab Emirates, which imported USD 22.52 million worth of beef, up 5% in the same comparison. In fourth place comes Jordan, with USD 18.45 million, an increase of 60.4%.
