São Paulo – Brazil exported 114,420 tons of fresh beef in August, a record monthly volume, according to data shown this Friday (14) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). This total stand 17.6% above last month’s total exports.
Foreign sales generated USD 590 million, up 13.5% over August 2017. But the average price of the product fell 3.5%.
The main markets for Brazilian beef last month were China, Hong Kong, Chile, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Holland, Israel and Lebanon (picture above).
Total exports by Brazilian agribusiness totaled USD 9.367 billion in August, up 3.6% over the same month of last year.
Year-to-date
From January to August, exports of fresh beef have reached USD 3.415 billion, up 8.8% over the same period of last year. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates appear among the top ten markets. Lebanon is the 11th.
Overall exports by the agribusiness sector totaled USD 68.52 billion, up 4.7% in the same comparison. The soy complex (beans, bran and oil) tops the list of Brazilian agricultural products exported.
MAPA also highlighted the performance by wood pulp, which hit records in both volume and revenues. The country exported 10.3 million tons from January to August, up 9.9% over the same period of last year, generating USD 5.63 billion, a 37.9% hike in the same comparison.
