São Paulo – From September 15 to 18, the Lebanese capital will host the Beirut Art Fair, an international art exhibition that this year brought art works from galleries of 17 countries. And for the first time since it was created in 2010, the event will have an exclusive section to Lebanese women artists.
This year’s edition of the Beirut Art Fair will present works of artists from Lebanon, Belarus, Bahrain, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Italy, China, Argentina, Jordan, United States, Algeria, Germany, Palestine, South Africa, Egypt and Iran.
The 2015 edition of the fair had more than 1,500 works from 300 artists. In all, 21,000 people visited the event with sales reaching USD 3.2 million. The organizers didn’t release yet the numbers of works for this year’s exhibition.
The section Lebanon Modern will pay tribute to the work of Lebanese Modernist women from 1945 to 1970. The works will be selected between private collections and the collection of the country’s Ministry of Culture. According to the event’s website, the idea behind this section is “to show the strength and creative energy of female artists that are still largely unknown to the
general public”.
The Lebanese exhibition will also highlight the work of new artists in the section Revealing, with the works of young artists from the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
