São Paulo – Arab music and dance teacher Marcia Dib will give a lecture on Arab music on the 22nd, a Saturday, and a course, on January 29th and February 5th. The events will be held at the headquarters of BibliAspa (the Library of South American-Arab Countries), in the city of São Paulo.
The meetings will be based on the theory found in the book Música Árabe: expressividade e sutileza (Arab music: expressiveness and subtlety), written by Marcia herself and published by BibliAspa in 2010. In the lecture, which will be free of charge and open to the public, the teacher will address the power of Arab music and how people respond to it with their bodies and minds. She is also going to discuss the importance of memory and of the word, as well as the musical instruments.
In her course, Marcia will explore the matter further, offering the audience an artistic, cultural and technical overview. Each class will last four hours. Musical knowledge is not required in order to attend.
