São Paulo – Abu Dhabi crown prince and UAE deputy supreme Armed Forces commander sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan got a phone call this Friday (10) from Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro. Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that discussions revolved around bilateral relations and how to improve them across the board.
Bolsonaro and Al Nahyan went over mutually relevant regional and international issues, including recent developments regarding Covid-19. One topic was the need to coordinate efforts to keep the pandemic under control and alleviate its impact, as well as ways to advance UAE-Brazil cooperation in this respect.
According to WAM, Bolsonaro gave thanks for the UAE’s donations of personal protective equipment for physicians in Brazil. He also lauded the sheikh’s initiatives towards international cooperation and solidarity, particularly at a time of crisis.
Since the pandemic erupted, the UAE have supplied over 1,046 tons of supplies to 70-plus countries, benefiting over 1 million healthcare workers.
