São Paulo – The Institute of Arab-Brazilian Culture (Icab) will host the Arab Culinary Diversity Fair on Saturday, September 22 at its headquarters in Brasília. Typical Arab sweet and savory dishes will be on sale from noon to 5 pm. Admission is free.
The event relies on support from local restaurants and people looking to offer their dishes at affordable prices, enabling visitors to learn more about the cuisine of Arab countries. Besides food and drink, the event will feature belly dance and dabke circle dance performances.
The fair is intended to showcase food as a key part of Arab culture, sustaining social ties and identity, enhancing customs and connecting with the history and background of Arab immigrants in Brazil. The event is organized by Icab and the Federation of Arab Organizations in Brazil (Federação das Entidades Árabes no Brasil – Fearab Brasil). It predates the Arab Week which the two organizations will host at the Brasília National Library.
