São Paulo – The exhibition “The Arab World: Civilization and Diversity” will bring to Brasília a small part of the culture, traditions and art of the Middle East and North Africa countries, starting April 8 and ending May 6. The exhibition will take place at the Federal District’s state Congress.
“The Council of Arab Ambassadors [in Brazil], the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District decided to pay tribute to the Arab Culture and also to the Arab Community Day in Brazil, celebrated in March 25. It’s a joint activity to show the cultural diversity of the Arab countries”, said Ibrahim Alzeben, Palestine’s ambassador and dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in the country.
The exhibition will put on display pictures, videos, typical clothing, art objects, rugs, mosaics, night gowns, books, engravings, banners, paintings, cases and porcelain objects. The pieces come from 16 Arab countries: Kuwait, Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Sudan, Morocco, Mauritania, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya and the United Arab Emirates.
“The exhibition is a reflection of the cultural richness of our countries and their contribution to the world cultural heritage”, said Alzeben. “We want to show it to the Brazilian people, and later to the Brazilian audience in general, since we want to take the exhibition to other capitals and cities of Brazil”, said the diplomat. According to him, the Council of Ambassadors is planning to take the exhibition to the cities that they will visit during their diplomatic trips throughout the year.
The exhibition’s opening ceremony takes place on April 8, at 6 PM, and is open to the public.
