São Paulo – Brazil donated 13,120 ampoules of antibiotics to Djibouti in July, according to information released by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), which is linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Djibouti is an Arab country in Africa and is heavily dependent on foreign aid. The nation has few natural resources and industries. Its economy is mainly based on services.
Brazil donated as humanitarian cooperation and without compromising its national supply, according to the ABC. The medicines were directed to Djibouti’s Ministry of Health. The operation had the support of the Brazilian embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which is also in charge of affairs between Brazil and Djibouti.
According to the ABC, the supplies arrived in the country’s capital, the City of Djibouti, about a month ago, on July 7. The delivered medication was ampoules of the injectable antibiotic Azithromycin 500 mg, a drug included in the World Health Organization’s (WHO) List of Essential Medicines.
