São Paulo – Brazil almost doubled poultry protein exports to the United Arab Emirates in January. The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) highlighted the increase in sales to the Gulf country in the balance of exports for the month, which had China as the leading destination.
“The great highlight, however, is the second main importer, since the spot was taken over by the UAE, which, in January, imported 42,800 tonnes, a number 96.6% higher than in the first month of last year,” ABPA reported.
Brazil also saw growth in overall poultry protein exports in January. Between all products, fresh and processed, shipments totaled 349,100 tonnes, a 19.7% expansion over the same month of 2021. Revenue amounted to USD 616.9 million, 42% higher than in January last year.
ABPA President Ricardo Santin stated input costs reflected in higher prices. According to Santin, the Brazilian product remained in strong demand even with the higher price. “Thanks to attributes such as quality and the fact that Brazil is the only major exporter free of Avian Influenza,” he said.
