Rio de Janeiro – The Economic Climate Indicator from think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas dropped from -11.4 points in April to -45.9 points in July. FGV said this is the second straight drop for the index, which had scored 4.3 points in January, on a scale of -100 to +100.
The result was driven by respondents’ current and future assessments of Brazil’s economy. The Current Scenario Index scored -88 points, down from -56.5 in April, while the Expectations Index dropped from 47.8 to 12.
