Brasília – The Federal government extended for 15 days the ban on the entry of non-resident foreign nationals in Brazil due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The decision follows the recommendations of the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) and was published on the Federal Gazette on Sunday (20).
The exceptional and temporary ban was provided by the Interministerial Ordinance nº 255 of May 22 to last for 30 days but was now extended. The ban applies to the entry by land, air or sea.
The travel ban does not apply to cargo transport or other logistic activities. Cross-border humanitarian campaigns are still allowed, as well as the traffic of border residents, provided that this is done on a reciprocal basis.
The restriction does not apply to domiciled immigrants; foreign professionals employed by an international organization or accredited by the Brazilian government; foreign travelers in transit as long as directly to the airport to board the flight; foreign nationals authorized by the government; bearers of the National Migration Registry; and spouse, partner or immediate family member of a Brazilian citizen.
