Rio de Janeiro – The end of the World Cup and the dollar appreciation against the real boosted domestic tourism in July’s last two weeks and, as a result, the national hotel occupancy rate recovered, reaching an average of 65% in the country, according to a survey by the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH NACIONAL).
According to the survey, besides domestic visitors, there was an increase in the number of tourists from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Colombia, especially to Rio de Janeiro. The rise in hotel occupancy rate took place in most of the country’s regions, shows the survey.
