Rio de Janeiro – The storage capacity available in Brazil for agricultural production increased 0.3% in Q2 2018 from Q1, as per the Survey of Stocks released this Tuesday the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Overall, Brazil can storage 169.5 million tonnes, and Mato Grosso has the largest stocking capacity, at 39.8 million.
Silos are the main form of storage of agricultural products in the country, accounting for 48.3% of the total useful storage capacity. Bulk warehouses account for 37.6%.
According to IBGE, the number of storage establishments has also increased. It reached 7,789 in Q2 2018, a 0.7% hike from Q1.
