São Paulo- The fact that Brazil has overcome the international financial crisis and the country’s position as one of the world’s largest economies were the factors that led the Al Ahli holding company, based in the United Arab Emirates, to choose the country as one of the hosts of its international contest for young entrepreneurs. The contest, named Global Business Opportunity, brings together 20 Brazilian and Arab youths.
According to Lina Hourani, director of CSR (the division of Al Ahli in charge of promoting the contest), Brazil has “extraordinary business opportunities” that may expose young Emiratis to “new ideas.”
Presently, the youths are divided into four groups that are working on different business plans. Lina did not provide details on the plans, which should be concluded within one month, but she disclosed the subject matters: fashion, football, restaurants and hotels.
The group that wins the Brazilian leg will go to Dubai for the finals against groups selected in Jordan, South Africa and Argentina, on April 25th.
“The idea of the programme is to develop youths for them to be global entrepreneurs, by providing them with interpersonal and educational skills that may support them to own their own businesses,” said Lina in an interview to ANBA.
According to her, the students learned a lot from the lectures given by Brazilian executives that they attended in the country. She also stated that they overcame several cultural and global obstacles, which helped them think and work in a global manner. The winner of the contest will receive US$ 20,000.
