Brasília – The Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) has temporarily lowered the Import Tax on titanium dioxide to prevent an undersupply. The resolution was published on this Tuesday’s (4th edition of the Official Gazette.
According to the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, titanium dioxide is a white pigment with myriad applications in the Brazilian industry, and is not manufactured in the country. It is used in manufacturing paint, plastics, rubber, paper, textiles, foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals.
The tax on imports of the product will be lowered from 10% to 2% for a 12-month period, for a quota of 6,000 tonnes.
