São Paulo – The Brazilian beverages company Brasilbev launched just over one year ago an organic energy drink, made with assai, guarana and yerba mate. The product, called Organique, is sold in ten Brazilian states, as well as the Federal District, and has been exported to two countries, China and Japan. There are interested importers in other parts of the world too, such as the United States, which is to receive a shipment in February, and the Middle East, where negotiations are currently under way.
Telling the story is the company’s director, João Paulo Sattamini, who will be making a business trip to Japan in February with a stopover in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The executive doesn’t have any business appointments in the Arab country, but is available, should there be anyone interested in his product. The importer with whom Brasilbev is negotiating is located in Dubai, and is currently analyzing the local legislation to see if it is possible to import the energy drink.
Great part of the negotiations with importers started at the Anuga trade fair, held in Germany last October. According to Sattamini, there is great demand in Brazil and the world for premium, natural, healthy products. The businessman even believes that the demand for high quality sustainable products is greater abroad than in the Brazilian market. In Brazil, Organique energy drinks are found in supermarkets and retailers such as Pão de Açúcar, Carrefour and Mundo Verde.
Orgnaique is sold in 269 ml cans. The beverage has no artificial food colorings, preservatives or additives. All raw materials are certified as organic, from the yerba mate, sugar, assai and guarana. Yerba mate is grown in the southern Brazilian states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul, and the assai and guarana are purchased from the Amazon region. Production is outsourced from the company Santamate, from the city of Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul.
According to Sattamini, Brasilbev was created in 2009 and worked for three years developing Organique. The company’s headquarters is in Porto Alegre, capital city of Rio Grande do Sul.
