São Paulo – The Brazilian startup TiX Tecnologia Assistiva was awarded as “supernova champion” in the Gitex Future Stars program in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. TiX offers inclusive sustainable solutions to help disabled people develop competences and skills through computers and other devices.
Gitex Future Stars, which ran last October, is a high-impact startup accelerator program based in Dubai. The event awards the world’s eleven most promising startups in their areas each year. The company received a USD 100,000 prize.
TiX director was quoted as saying in a press release that “the program’s recognition acknowledges Tix’s work and internationalization process and opens doors for the startup to develop its inclusive solutions in Dubai too.”
The prize was part of one the world’s largest startup competitions with over 1,000 companies from 140 countries. “Participating in Gitex is important for Tix to be internationally recognized and for the interchange of some of the world’s best and most important technology. Ranking first place at a program of such a global reach is an important recognition for our set of solutions, which will set us up for many other markets,” the businessman was quoted as saying.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 650 million people around the globe live with some kind of disability.
The company
Founded in Belo Horizonte in 2009, the company offers accessibility programs by subscription for the disabled, including equipment such as the TiX Smart Keyboard, which makes electronic devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones accessible for them, especially those with limited movement. The evolution of this technology significantly contributes for a higher quality of life and the inclusion of disabled people into society.
The service offers an evaluation of the needs of each person and the prescription of equipment by following up their experience and evolution. The whole solution may be hired with an accessibility plan for monthly payments starting at BRL 165 (USD 40). This way, the client hires the accessibility as a service that includes the recommended equipment and continuous assistance.
