São Paulo – Since late last year, São Paulo-based marketing and public relations agency Unique Travel Collection advertises the services of Jordanian tour operator Nyazi Tours in Brazil. The agency works to make the Jordan-based company known to Brazilian operators and travel agencies and the local media.
“They were looking for someone to represent them in Brazil. We started talking, then we signed the contract and last February we went to Jordan to see the country,” says Carolina Mokshin, one of the partners of Unique.
Mokshin explains that in addition to traditional trips, Nyazi Tours offers adventure tourism, including activities such as climbing and skydiving. She says the Jordan operator’s owner, Nyazi Shabaan, had a 15-year stint as director of the tourism office in the city of Petra. “He is a very well-connected person,” she says.
Mokshin also notes that one of the Jordanian operator’s staff speaks Spanish, which makes it easier for Brazilian agencies to get in touch.
Unique’s contract with Nyazi Tours is valid for a year and can be renewed. During this timeframe, the Brazilian agency will advertise destinations like Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum and others to agencies, operators and the media throughout Brazil.
This is not the first contract with an Arab client for Unique. Since late 2012, the agency also renders services to Sharaf Tours, a UAE-based operator for which it advertises Dubai and Abu Dhabi in Brazil.
According to Mokshin, the two emirates are already popular with Brazilians, especially because they are hubs connecting Brazil and Asian cities. However, she believes Brazilians are still lacking information about the countries in the region.
“Brazilians need more information to learn that Arab countries are different from one another,” she says, referring to security issues, one of the biggest concerns regarding Middle East and North Africa destinations. She says she is also interested in finding clients in Morocco.
The agency
Founded in December 2011 by Mokshin and her partner Ariane Carvalho, Unique Travel Collection advertises tourist attractions and destinations, shopping centers and tour operators. The agency also serves clients from the United States, Bahamas, India and Turkey.
