São Paulo – Brazilian beef exports revenue reached USD 5.096 billion from January to July, a 9% increase over the same period in 2020. In volume, the 1.07 million tonnes shipped represented a 3% drop in the same comparison. Data included fresh and processed meat and was released by the Brazilian Meat Packers Association (ABRAFRIGO) this Thursday (5).
The figures are provided by the Brazilian Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat and compiled by ABRAFRIGO. Considering solely July 2021, exports reached 192,500 tonnes, with USD 1.011 billion in revenue. In this period, the exported volume had a 1% reduction compared to the same month in 2020, but the record-breaking revenue surpassed USD 1 billion in a month for the first time. The milestone was reached with a 30% upsurge compared to the same month last year.
In the accumulated result for the year, Arab countries started to appear in the main destinations in the fourth position, with Egypt. The North African country imported 32,900 tonnes from January to July this year, a 56.3% decrease. In sixth place, the United Arab Emirates bought 25,500 tonnes, an increase of 14.7% compared to last year. And in seventh place, Saudi Arabia imported 22,000 tonnes of Brazilian beef, a 20.3% decline.
China remains the leading destination for Brazilian beef. Nonetheless, until July, Chinese purchases had dropped 0.56% compared to 2020. Purchases from China totaled 630,500 tonnes in the first seven months of this year. The second main destination for the product was the United States. In third place came Chile.
