São Paulo – Company Lanno, a maker of natural costume jewellery, is going to participate, in September, in fair Première Classe, in Paris, and is inviting several international buyers to visit the brand stand, among them retailers from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Kuwait. The contacts with the Arabs were made last year, during the Fashion Business, in Rio de Janeiro.
At the event in Rio de Janeiro, the company closed deals with a retailer in Dubai, who purchased several necklaces and bracelets in cotton and resin, very colourful. According to the designer and partner at Lanno, Luisa Herculano, the company products called the attention of foreigners as they were colourful and had different design. "Our products have the face of Brazil," she said.
Lanno exports started in 2008, the same year the company was established. Today, the items are sold to Europe, Japan and Australia. The orders are made, mostly, at international fairs. “The export process is long, so it is important for constant participation in fairs, to maintain contacts," said Luisa.
Since 2008, the company has already participated in fairs in Paris, Madrid and New York. “We started on the opposite lane. First in the foreign market and then in Brazil," said Luisa, who made her first sales abroad.
To Paris, Luisa should take two collections: Kerala (named after a region in southeast India), which has the colours of the Asian country, contrasting with the colours of nature, and Fio da Meada, which has necklaces and bracelets made with cotton thread and organically died salmon skin.
Last year, the Lanno collection had as its theme the River Nile. The products made reference to the colours of Egypt and African tribes. Cotton fibre was also present in the pieces.
Lanno, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, has six employees and produces two collections a year. In each of its collections, the company produces between 5,000 and 8,000 items. Despite having started sales on the foreign market, the main market for Lanno is Brazil. “Exports vary much, depending on the month," said Luisa.
