São Paulo – Three Brazilian fine and semi-fine jewelry brands are presenting their creations at Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show, which is running from last Tuesday (1st) till next Saturday (5) at Expo Centre Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Exhibitors are Avergara by designer Juliana Vergara Aldrighi, Pravi Design by designer Mariana Clas Astolphi, and designer Débora Ioschpe.
Participation is organized by the Brazil Atmosphere project developed by ALM Brazil Trading aimed to merchandise Brazilian jewelry, arts and decoration in Arab countries. Its goal is to present the Arab market with products related to Brazil, its nature, flora, fauna, colors and shapes, gems, movement, embroideries, and other characteristics.
The show in Sharjah is dedicated to both wholesale and the final consumer. “It’s a more consumer-oriented show, but there is some interest in buying in bulk,” ALM Brazil Trading CEO and partner Marlucia Martire said. The businesswoman says that the show is quite busy, especially in the evening. She says that exhibitors are happy with their performances.
Pravi Design is a São Paulo brand of contemporary, minimal jewels made in gold and silver. “Arab visitors say that, in addition to being chic, our pieces have a very clean, cool look. They are liking it a lot because it’s out of the box, out of what they are used to see,” Marlucia says.
Débora Ioschpe creates exuberant pieces with plenty of gemstones such as tourmaline, morganite, emerald, pink tourmaline, and others. “They’re beautiful,” says Marlucia. Diversity and sustainability are seen in the pieces made by the designer, who reuses materials and combines sophistication and quality with sublety.
Avergara is focused in offering high-quality products and services for affordable prices. ALM Brazil Trading CEO stresses the colorful pieces and how semi-precious stones are used. “They’re very popular since it’s a design that Arab women already know but for a lower price, since it’s not gold,” she says.
Besides these three exhibitor brands, the show is visited by businessman Pedro Afonso, who produces plated pieces, and company MS Joias Folheadas, owned by businessman Mauro Cesar. Both are from the state of Ceará and advised by ALM in seeking buyers and distributors at the show.
Brazil’s embassy to the UAE supports the Brazilian participation, and ambassador Fernando Igreja visited the show and ALM stand as a guest of honor. He and other invitees were allowed to visit the show before it was open for business. Rafael Solimeo, head of Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce international office in Dubai, was also there.
“This participation in the watch and jewelry show in Sharjah in 2019 is an important first step towards bringing Brazilian jewelry and fine and semi-fine jewel industry to the UAE. The corporate community in Sharjah was very glad that Brazil could come, and I’m proud as ever that these Brazilian businesswoman came breaking into a sector Brazil clearly has so much potential for in the Emirati market,” Igreja told ANBA.
