Brasília – Brazilian airlines carried a combined 103 million passengers in domestic and international flights last year. The National Civil Aviation Agency Civil (Anac) said the number is up 4.1% from 2017. The numbers are from the Air Travel Demand and Supply report made public this Wednesday (23).
The regulating agency said domestic travel was up 3.3% year-on-year. Airlines carried 93.6 million passengers, up from 90.6 million the previous year. This was the strongest result in three years.
The report also shows that Brazilian airlines handled 11.9% more passengers in international flights last year, at 9.4 million.
Domestic cargo and mail numbers were also up, by 10.5% to 470,900 tons, in the sharpest hike in seven years.
International cargo and mail volumes also climbed, by 24.4% to 281,700 tons, the biggest amount since record-keeping began in 2000.
