São Paulo – Coffee exports from Brazil to Arab countries slid by 11% in shipped volume year-on-year in Q1, the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé) said.
January to March saw 302,000 60-kg bags of coffee shipped to Arab countries, down from 338,100 bags a year ago. Revenue also dropped, by 20% from USD 58.3 million in Q1 2017 to USD 46.6 million in Q1 2018.
Overall, foreign sales of coffee from Brazil were down 4.1% to 7.7 million bags and 13.2% to USD 1.2 billion. In March alone, 2.5 million bags of coffee got shipped from Brazil, down 11%, with foreign exchange revenue down 20.4% to USD 396.2 million.
