São Paulo – Last week, the Brazilian Parliament Congress held a special session to mark the 74th anniversary of the Nakba in Palestine. The session came following an invitation by a number of deputies who support the Palestinian cause, such as Camilo Capiberibe, Alexandre Padilha and Márcio Jerry, in partnership with the Brazil-Palestine Institution (IBRASPAL).
According to information made public by the Arab-Palestinian Federation of Brazil (FEPAL), the session was attended by a number of diplomats from Arab, Islamic and Latin American countries, as well as representatives of social organizations and over 100 congresspeople both in person and online.
The session opened with the Palestinian national anthem, followed by a speech by Congress president Arthur Lira. The session was also attended by the Palestinian ambassador to Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben, who spoke during the session, as well as supporters of the Palestinian cause, such as IBRASPAL and FEPAL representatives and several Brazilian congresspeople.
